Founded in 2016 in Montreal, La Pimenterie blends craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep passion for chili peppers. What began as filmmaker Julien Fréchette’s late-night idea became one of Quebec’s most respected hot sauce ateliers. Inspired by his travels — from Montreal to the front lines in Iraq and Syria — Julien created sauces that express stories, cultures, and flavours from around the world.Today, La Pimenterie produces small-batch, gourmet hot sauces using locally grown peppers, including urban agriculture within 6 km of their workshop. Every sauce is brewed by hand with precision, creativity, and a deep respect for ingredients. Their mission: to craft sauces that explode with flavour, support local growers, and celebrate the rich global culture of chili peppers.
